Located in the Drumheller Valley, 77 miles north of Calgary, the Ramada Hotel is owned and managed by Canalta – which owns 57 hotels and restaurants in Alberta. After installing an Ayus activation device on the hotel’s water main, the hotel realized significant cost savings and water performance improvements.

BEFORE AYUS:
The hotel had been using a $12,000 water softener, which required daily maintenance, and monthly costs of salt which corroded pipes and adds to teh already high saline levels in water used in surrounding farmland.

Soft water made laundry difficult. Stains were difficult to remove no matter how much bleach was used.

AFTER AYUS:
The hotel no longer needed the expensive water softener and salt supply. After one year without the softener, there is no evidence of any calcium on the heat exchangers.

Laundry has improved, with staff now finding it easier to remove stains. Staff have also reported better coffee and juice.

Removing the water softener has meant a reduction in salt from the water table, which has benefited crops.
